Kalady is a historically significant village located on the banks of the Nile River. Kalady, which was part of the Tavanur region, which was known as Tapassanur in ancient times, gained cultural prominence due to the belief that it was a place where sages performed penance. Discoveries such as ancient caves and pottery indicate that there was human habitation here centuries ago. This area, which was part of Vettathunadu, was associated with historical events like Mamankam. Vellayil Mana and Tavanur Mana were symbols of social influence and supremacy.
